Abdulhakim Al Omari, director of the seventh Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, praised the strong turnout of the continent’s champions for the Asian indoor challenge, and said the opening ceremony had been elegant and understated in every detail, but that what mattered most to him was the effective participation, which confirms the continent’s commitment to developing athletics. He added that the large number of male and female participants in the championship had already given it a measure of success even before it began, since no previous edition of the Asian indoor championships had seen participation of this scale. Al Omari wished Qatar’s champions success in this challenge, which comes ahead of the World Championships in America and then the Olympic Games in Brazil.
