Alex Kondrat, Asian federation vice-president: Major General Al Hamad’s efforts aim to present the continent with its strongest champions

Alex Kondrat, vice-president of the Asian Athletics Association, praised the standard of technical and administrative organisation of the seventh Asian Athletics Championships. Kondrat, one of the most prominent leaders of athletics in Kazakhstan, said Qatar had excelled in organising the championships and provided all the ingredients for success for the continent’s champions to showcase their abilities and get the chance to  test themselves before the World Championships in America next month, adding that this comes as no surprise for the people of Qatar, who previously hosted the 2008 edition with great success.  What stood out, however, was the development of the technical level of the continent’s champions at this championship, reflected in the results of the first and second days, which produced great dominance for Qatar, Kazakhstan and China, though what matters most for them in Asia is  achieving dominance in athletics at every world and Olympic level  .

Alex praised the efforts of Major General Dahlan Al Hamad in developing Asian athletics, noting his great commitment to hosting this seventh edition, which represented a challenge for Kazakhstan since its first edition, pointing to the results of his country’s male and female athletes at the current edition, in which Olympic champion Olga Rypakova, who won gold in the triple jump,  is expected to be present at next summer’s Rio Olympics.  Alex confirmed that Kazakhstan will take part in the World Championships with five female athletes in Portland, America.
