HE Abdullah Ahmed Al Zaini, president of the Qatar Athletics Federation, received at his office on Sunday, 2 May, the French traveller Hassan Wahbi, (49), a Frenchman of Moroccan origin, married with four children. The traveller is touring Qatar, having come from the UAE via Saudi Arabia and then
Qatar, to see the landmarks of Qatar’s renaissance, its historic sites, cities and tourist facilities, on a tour lasting several days. He will then continue his journey around the countries of the region, visiting Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine and Syria, then Lebanon, before crossing into Europe via Turkey and then Greece, on his annual trip, which he has named this year “Voice of the Desert”. The traveller Hassan Wahbi began his exploratory journeys around the world’s countries in 1990, during which he has visited (149) countries across Africa, Asia and Europe. Hassan says he will head to Latin America next year to learn about its civilisations and its old and modern cities, with his exploratory tour of Latin America lasting (5) months to learn about its customs, traditions, civilisation and modern landmarks. At the end of his journeys he will produce a book describing his exploratory travels and the customs, traditions and historical landmarks that distinguish those countries, the beauty of their nature in its various forms, and what he witnessed and experienced of hospitality and the level of cultural, social, economic and urban development in those countries. At the end of the meeting, the federation president presented traveller Hassan Wahbi with a shield reflecting Qatari hospitality, while the traveller expressed his thanks and appreciation to the federation president for the warm welcome and honour, and wished the Qatar Athletics Federation further progress and prosperity.
