Al Sadd’s champions regained their dominance in the cross-country championships, deservedly claiming the first-place cup in the men’s open race amid strong competition. Al Sadd’s champions, known as “the leader”, controlled the race from start to finish despite fierce competition from the champions of Al Rayyan, Al Jaish and Al Gharafa. Secretary general Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari presented the trophy to the Al Sadd champion, alongside Pakistan Athletics Federation president Mohammed Akram and board members Abdulhakim Al Omari and Abdulrahman Al Nobi and Mai Al Mohammadi, together with federation executive director Khalifa Abdulmalik. In the overall standings, Al Sadd finished first with 31 points, Al Rayyan were runners-up with 35 points, Al Jaish came third with 64 points, Al Gharafa fourth with 73 points, Al Khor fifth with 89 points, Qatar SC sixth with 100 points, Al Wakrah seventh with 106 points, and Al Arabi eighth with 130 points, having competed only in the individual race. The championships undoubtedly saw stronger competition and wider participation at the start of the season, including from the champions of our national teams, who had begun light training, with the event serving merely as a season opener rather than a serious push for the top places.
