Al Rayyan’s athletics team in the Amal category (ages 10-11) claimed first place at the first clubs festival of the new sporting season, organised by the Qatar Athletics Federation at Aspire Park with the participation of the ten clubs affiliated with the athletics federation. Al Rayyan’s youngsters took the top spot with 75 points, Al Jaish came second with 74 points, Al Sadd, “the leader”, came third with 61 points, Al Khor came fourth with 58 points, Al Ahli fifth with 51 points, Al Gharafa sixth with 35 points, Al Arabi seventh with 29 points, Al Shamal eighth with 18.5 points, Qatar SC ninth with 12.5 points, and Al Wakrah came tenth, having only competed in the individual events. The athletics federation organises six children’s festivals annually, three for the 8-9 age category and three for the 10-11 age category, with results counting towards the clubs’ overall excellence shield, calculated by combining the times, distances or repetitions achieved by each team’s athletes. The second Amal festival for the 10-11 age category will be held on 8 December, while the first festival for the 8-9 age category will be held on 15 December.
