Jordan’s Mosab Al-Momani achieved a historic feat, winning bronze in the discus at the Asian Athletics Championships, which opened on Sunday in the Qatari capital Doha with 700 athletes from 43 countries taking part.
Al-Momani’s medal is the first of its kind in the discus in the history of Jordan’s participation in the Asian Athletics Championships, and the country’s fifth medal overall across all events.
Al-Momani recorded a throw of 58.27m to take third place and the bronze medal, behind Iran’s Ehsan Hadadi – the London 2012 Olympic silver medallist – who won gold with a throw of 65.95m, and Bahman, who took silver with 60.89m.
