Abdulhakeem Al Omari, member of the athletics federation board and head of its technical committee, confirmed that the Asian Games’ senior organising and technical committees rejected the legal appeal filed against their decision to disqualify the leading trio – Saudi Arabia’s Ladan, the gold medallist, Qatar’s Musaab, the runner-up, and Bahrain’s Abraham, third – noting that we had filed the legal appeal against the decision, and that the technical committee had reviewed the race video more than once and based its decision on purely technical observation and facts that occurred during the race, noting that the 800m is one of the events most prone to such situations, as everyone tries to take the lead and control the inside lane after the first bend in order to move directly into the best lane for 800m runners, which leads to unintentional errors by some that result in the best runners being disqualified or denied the medals and their months of training wasted, and that this had been a shock for our decent champion Musaab Abdulrahman, hoping for his success in the coming days, and that his performance in the Incheon 800m final would be studied closely and with an open mind to learn from the technical error for the future, especially as he is one of the best 800m runners in Asia and had been the top favourite at the Incheon Asiad, wishing him continued success with the same enthusiasm and motivation to make up for his lost gold.
