Abdul Hakim Al Omari, Athletics Federation board member and technical committee chairman, affirmed that the Amir Cup is the most prized championship of all, and that it saw a high technical standard as it does every year, with the closing day more than superb, confirming overall the high level Qatari athletics has reached.
Al Omari explained that the rest of the clubs were closely matched, praising the standard of Al Khor’s champions this year, saying they had good raw talent that would be an important source for the national team.
Al Omari added that the championship served as a strong trial run for the technical and organisational systems that will be used at the first Asian Youth Championships, which the Qatar federation is organising for the first time and which get under way next week at the Sheikh Saoud bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar SC.
